A Cloud with a Silver Lining - also known to me as the tender mercies of the Lord

How I Feel Today

Car accident in a rental. $1,000 deductible. Accident the fault of a 17 year old (18 to be licensed in Costa Rica) driving a vehicle two years expired on it's registration. Needless to say, no insurance. We are going to drive it a few more weeks until we get up the guts to pay the overpriced bill, and therein lies the silver lining....air conditioning and music for 2 weeks. In the midst of the blistering heat, I'll take it! Even if it is a little overpriced :)

Life is Like a Cupcake...I can never get enough

It could be the everlasting sunshine of dry season, the rush of friends and family that have come to visit, the plethora of new vocabulary my 2 year old pronounces with such enthusiasm each day, or just the sheer joy of inhaling and exhaling, but right now, I just feel like I can't get enough.
During my pregnancy with Brooklyn, I seriously consumed 2 dozen confetti cupcakes in one sitting, with frosting! I include the fact that it was during my pregnancy, but anyone who knows me, knows that anything which includes flour, sugar, and frosting in the same serving will disappear entirely as fast as it is set out in front of me. And even after one of those binge sessions, I am still left craving more. Such is life. I can't get enough, but even if I tried, I couldn't squeeze in one more bite. Perhaps if the calendar started dishing out more than 24 hours in a day, or more than 7 days in a week, I could relish in each moment a little longer. The sun invigorates me, my children make me laugh and smother me with loves and kisses, and my husband and I are enjoying our 10th year together. I feel grateful for the sweetness that I am experiencing in my life right now, and I give thanks to the Hands that have given me these gifts.

No Smoke and Mirrors - Our First Trip to the Dentist

No TV. No laughing gas. No posters or goody bags. No waiting room with kids stuff. Just a chair, some pretty scary looking equipment in plain sight of my eight year old, and a very well trained and wonderful dentist who walked him through his tooth extraction.....He was very brave. Enough said.

Confessions of a Sugarholic - my road to rehab

This stinks! I love sugar. Sugar is bad for my body. It tastes really good. My mouth says 'yes!' but my body says, 'ouch.' From what I've read, eating excess amounts of sugar is about as good for you as standing in front of a moving mac truck, it just kills you a little slower. I know, I know, if your breathing, then you are at risk for cancer. BUT, truth be told we do have the power to extend our life and the quality of our life, God grant it. So, I'm getting on the wagon, and they aren't serving any cupcakes! At least, I WANT to get on the wagon. This might be a little rough.....
